About Me

Very few people get to do what they love for a living. I’m one of the lucky ones.
My heart belongs to academia and books, and it has since I was a child. Although the book titles have changed– from The Very Hungry Caterpillar, to Harry Potter, to War and Peace— books have never left my hands. I credit my deep understanding of English language, writing, syntax, grammar, and mechanics to decades of exposure through reading. If practice makes perfect, I should be as close to perfection as one can be.
As a child, I never kicked my feet or screamed and cried to get out of going to school. On the contrary, my homework, teachers, and friends made school my happy place. I dedicated myself to my education before I was old enough to even understand what that would mean. By high school, excellent academic performance had been seamlessly integrated into my personality.
However, I never had anyone to hold my hand during ACT/SAT prep, and I was certainly clueless when it came to submitting college applications. After my years of tutoring and academic experiences, I have come to appreciate just how important it is for high schoolers to have an expert guide to help them navigate through two of the most important moments in their high school careers.
Working at the Writing Center at the University of Maryland opened my eyes to the reality of learning: it’s never over. My clients taught me things about my writing and myself that I could not have discovered without them. It was this exchange of ideas, coupled with the incredible students and their incredible stories, that solidified my desire to keep teaching writing.
I received my Bachelor’s degree in English at The University of Maryland. I recently relocated from the outer Washington D.C area to New York, where I live in a charming walk-up on the Upper East Side. I enjoy walks in the park, spending time with my cat, watching rom-coms, and– of course– reading.
